The street style lessons we learnt from London Fashion Week SS17

Everyone’s wearing: Victoria Beckham
The best fancy flats you’ll want to swap your heels for
Stylish Christmas gifts for him (that we kind of want too)

While the shows at London Fashion Week SS17 are the key catalyst for next season’s trends, the street is where we look for style idiosyncrasies and unexpected twists on major catwalk trends. This season proposed a whole host of new ways to rethink our wardrobe staples, as well as affirming the pieces we’ll be investing in this season. Here are the key looks you need to take note of: The Finer Details image:

Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 We called it back in July, and now it’s time to take heed of all this talk of ‘curated’ ears. No longer an afterthought – whack in a couple of pearls and go, or worse, persevere that little titanium stud you were pierced with – earrings are now a key signifier that you’re ahead of the game this season. You don’t need to drop a bomb on dinky winking diamonds, just pick up a pack of assorted studs (Topshop and Zara have some great sets right now) and get creative. Making Waves image:

Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 Ruffles are another trend that has reigned supreme since last season. From cascading sleeves to undulating bib details, Gucci, Roksanda and Fendi have kept the look alive for autumn/winter 2016. The high street has responded with some gorgeous interpretations; look out for romantic ruffled dresses and elaborate, rippling shirt cuffs. Get Waisted image:

Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 This is a micro-trend adaptation on the corseted waist seen on the AW16 catwalks of Balmain, Prada and Loewe. Hourglass silhouettes are back after seasons of voluminous, cocooning shapes. Super-feminine and subtly sexy, cinch dresses, cardigans, coats and even hoodies with a simple waist belt. Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 Remember when we made the call on the new way to wear your coat? It seems giving your outerwear a little slouch has extended to jumpers and cardigans. If Olivia Palermo and Veronika Heilbrunner have anything to say about it that is, and when it comes to street style trends this pair are two very reliable sources. This Is ‘It’ image:

Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 JW Anderson’s Pierce bag has been a massive street style hit, swinging from many fashionable shoulders in cobalt blue, dove grey and monochrome. The Irish designer’s smaller, logoed shoulder bag is also hugely popular this season, and costs £200 less. One for the Christmas wishlist, perhaps. I’m With The Band image:

Street Style Lessons LFW SS17 In line with the elevated sportswear trend, vintage band tees are the latest unassuming wardrobe staple to receive a high fashion makeover. From Chanel to Loewe, give these rock star designers the same sartorial shout out as legendary musicians with a cool logo t-shirt emblazoned with their name. Reading now image:
